The Lacrimosa Pro, a sculptural 3D-printed pendant inspired by an asymmetric ‘twisted’ teardrop form, has won both a Build Back Better GOLD and GREEN Award in the 2025 lighting category.
Created by UK firm LumiAdd, the luminaire is made using a fully non planar 3D printing process—where the print head moves continuously across three axes—to achieves a seamless, fluid form that defies typical layer based constraints.
Made from renewable, plant-based polymers optionally enhanced with repurposed waste materials, Lacrimosa Pro is available in over 180 RAL colours and many other unique finishes—offering an exceptional breadth of aesthetic choice without compromising on sustainability.
Functionality has not been compromised for form. With selectable optics (a 340° glow or a narrow beam yielding up to 121 luminaire lumens per circuit watt), the Lacrimosa Pro is equally suited to decorative and task focused applications. Its low glare design and range of curated sizes ensure versatility across hospitality, workplace and residential projects.
LumiAdd uses plant polymers to 3D print luminaires. These materials are significantly more sustainable than conventional materials currently used in the lighting industry.
They produce 33 per cent less Co2 emissions than petrochemical plastics and 97.5 per cent less Co2 emissions than aluminium. 3D printing on demand results in zero waste.
The product is manufactured and assembled in the UK which helps to lower each light’s carbon footprint.
LumiAdd products achieve the highest TM66 (CIBSE Circular Economy Assessment Method for Manufacturing) category of excellent circularity.
In addition, the company offers a buy back scheme to support the return of LumiAdd luminaires at the end of their first use to ensure they can be re-used again.
