The LTwo® ‘battery' luminaire from Architectural FX has won a Build Back Better GOLD Award in the 2025 lighting category.
This new generation LTwo® battery offers simple quick installation as well the same benefits as the LTwo magnet®, with 13 different optics.
The nano optic technology delivers high outputs in a tiny structure of just 16.4 mm. With impressive glare control of up to a UGR of 16. LTwo® battery is a battery version using contact end caps to click in place.
This is the ultimate ‘lamp luminaire’, easy to install and de-install. No new wiring is required. This allows endless possibilities to future-proof a lighting installation where replacements with either alternative optics, colour temperature, or wattage, or all three, can be used in the future space.
Architectural FX’s approach is already proving successful with clients who required a higher intensity of light over specific areas, post installation. A tighter beam version has replaced the existing optic. The system offers a versatile circular approach and is as easy to change as an old fluorescent lamp.
Two® battery has been TM66 independently certified by the LIA. Fixtures can be reused and repurposed according to the design requirements and with no additional installation costs or disruption.
LTwo® is SELV, at 48V DC. It can be safely installed and replaced, without need of professional electricians for replacement. This offers end users and building owners enhanced safety and reassurance and cost savings, which can be considerable with multiple buildings to consider.
A key part of Architectural FX’s integration philosophy is finding ways to design lighting into smaller spaces and furniture. The development of the battery LTwo® forms the next stage of this journey.
It allows depth reduction to 22mm, whilst retaining the same optical control, output and tiltability of the luminaire.
Like the magnet version of LTwo® the battery fixture mounts onto and into architectural structures. The system offers potential to be a solution for many applications including Cat A fit out.
For the contractor, installation costs are much reduced, with the installation of the battery end caps. Fixtures are also well priced for quality and performance.
For the lighting designer and engineer, this luminaire future-proofs a design and adds some technical features, including compliance with a UGR of >16 for the tightest conformity to EN12464.
For the architect the slim unobtrusive design will hopefully align with their aesthetic demands.
And for the client, the financial and sustainable savings on wastage should be appealing. Other applications include cove lighting, ceiling integration, task lighting, and shelf lighting.
Suppliers of components to the LTwo include Bridgelux LEDs, Nano optics -IQ Structures and Meanwell.
